Physician: Aashish V. Gandhi, M.D., FACS
Dr. Gandhi decided to become an ophthalmologist after witnessing the significant improvement in vision and functional ability in his grandfather following cataract surgery. He attended the Bronx High School of Science and graduated from Cornell University cum laude. He completed medical school at the New York University School of Medicine, followed by an ophthalmology residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York, where he was chief resident. He completed a fellowship in vitreo-retinal surgery at Ochsner Clinic and Hospital in New Orleans.
Dr. Gandhi is a Board-certified ophthalmologist, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American College of Surgeons, and is a member of the American Society of Retinal Specialists. He has had presentations at ARVO (Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology), and provides ongoing community lectures to other physicians and patients on retinal diseases. Dr. Gandhi has helped serve the needs of patients with vitreo-retinal diseases in central Illinois since 1998.
Dr. Gandhi enjoys spending family time with his wife, Rachel, and their children Raya and Sohan. His interests include photography, travel, and hiking.
